The nearby Panola Mountain State Park is a 915-acre ground for hiking, nature trails, picnic shelters, playgrounds and a nature center. Fishing, boating, picnicking and hiking can be enjoyed at Sweetwater Creek State Park. Carved on the mountain of Stone Mountain Park is an exposed granite carving of Confederacy President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee and Lt. General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.

The Atlanta International Museum of Design is an excellent spot for art and design lovers. The museum is heralded as an educational organization and a public trust engaging a diverse audience. This prestigious museum has been named an “affiliate” of the Washington-based Smithsonian Institution. Working with the Smithsonian curatorial staff, the museum has plans to bring exhibits and displays from Smithsonian museums such as the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. The first Smithsonian related exhibit opened was “Treasures from the Smithsonian: A First Look” in October 2001. Visitors of this museum enjoy a first-hand experience of art unlike any other.
